Our T-shirt...
Our team "A Friend, A Family"...my niece Tatiana is to the right with the yellow shirt sleeves. I have no idea why she is strugging like that. This was her first AIDS Walk. Her two schoolmates are left of her in the photo. It was also their first AIDS Walk.
Our team, take two (holding up our banner this time)...
Me with team Captain, Tanya. I am co-Captain. (Why the crowns? Walkers who raise at least $1,000 are given a crown to wear during the walk... and they receive special recoginition from volunteers along the route... as. they. should.)
Me with Lee, one of my buds (and our team's unofficial photographer)...he is so cool... and turned me on to Woot.com! (I still don't know whether to thank him or make a voodoo doll in his image and stick it with straight pins for doing that, actually.)
Me calling no-shows before we depart the team meeting area to begin the walk.
Me. Walking.
Me, walking arm in arm with Tania, another first-time walker.
Me. Walking. With a crazy face. And Tania.
Me. Walking. With our team sign AND a crazy face. I have no idea what was going on when Lee took this picture. Maybe I was laughing at Tania whipping her hair back and forth.
Somewhere between checkpoints two and three, I sent a tweet that was retweeted by AIDS Walk NY. That was cool.
At checkpoint three, we all stopped to take "model-y" shots with the team sign.
Tanya and I giving "model-with-team-sign realness."
And me, with our team sign, doing... something.
Eventually, the folks at GMHC announced that walkers raised $6.2 Million in this year's walk...
...but we had finished a few hours before that announcement and were already enjoying our post-walk supper.
While the team met it fundraising goal, this fight against HIV & AIDS is far from over. Click the "Click Here to Donate" link below to make a 100% tax-deductible donation.
